Global Media Congress concludes in Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI, NOVEMBER 17, ARMENPRESS. The third day of the Global Media Congress featured a panel discussion hosted by Saeed Al Eter, Chair of the UAE Government Media Office, which addressed the role of the media in promoting national identity amidst the challenges posed by cultural globalization.

The session was moderated by Abdullah Abdul Karim, Acting Executive Director for News Content at the Emirates News Agency (WAM).

The first edition of the Global Media Congress brought together over 1200 journalists and media executives from around the world. The congress featured a wide range of discussions, covering topics such as the involvement of youth in the development of the media, modern technologies and artificial intelligence, fact checking and fighting fake news.

The congress was organized by the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), in partnership with WAM and was held under the patronage of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court.

ARMENPRESS joined the congress as a media partner.

Faisal Barout, Director of the Central Editorial Department told ARMENPRESS that the goal of holding such a major event was to bring together various news outlets to discuss common issues and problems of the media sector. Barout said that one of the most important priorities nowadays is the utilization of innovations and new technologies in creating news products.

“At the first day of the congress we witnessed the interview of WAM Director General Mohammed Jalal Al Rayssi to the first Metaverse presenter. This means that this all [new technologies] isn’t that far away, this will become reality in a few years because we have the respective technologies. We must focus efforts and see what’s expected in the future,” he said.

Speaking about cooperation with ARMENPRESS, Barout said that as a result of the productive cooperation both sides display the achievements of their partner, which is mutually beneficial.

During the second day of the Global Media Congress, ARMENPRESS joined the Tolerance Charter for the Media.
