Commemorative plaque of Armenian church in Ethiopia’s Dire Dawa inaugurated

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 14, ARMENPRESS. The inauguration of the commemorative plaque of the Saint Minas Chapel of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Ethiopia’s Dire Dawa was held on October 11.

The Saint Minas Chapel was built in 1928 by the local Armenian community.

The historic marker was opened by the Dire Dawa City Hall and the Armenian Embassy.

In their remarks, Armenian Embassy chargé d'affaires Artem Aznaurian and Dire Dawa City Hall Chief of Staff Gebeyehu Tilahun highlighted the importance of preserving Armenian heritage in Ethiopia, particularly in Dire Dawa, as a display of centuries of friendship between the two countries.

An agreement was reached around future cooperation and bilateral cultural events.
