YEREVAN, OCTOBER 13, ARMENPRESS. The Yerevan City Hall’s Landscaping and Environmental Protection agency is implementing an unprecedented project in the Tsitsernakaberd hill. Around 3000 trees and another 3000 bushes will be planted across a 8,5 ha area where a new orchard will be opened.
“One of the city authorities’ objective is to restore the forests of Yerevan wherever possible,” the agency’s director Armen Begoyan told ARMENPRESS, noting that the main goal is to “restore Yerevan’s lungs”.
This is the first time that the agency is planting so many trees in one season encompassing such an area.
The tree planting will begin in October or November this year.
The irrigation system is already constructed.
