Azerbaijani defense ministry reports death of five more servicemen in border clashes

YEREVAN, JULY 14, ARMENPRESS. Deputy defense minister of Azerbaijan Karim Valiyev announced today that five more servicemen of the Azerbaijani army, including officers, have died in the clashes on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border.

“Majors Namik Hajan Oghlu Ahmedov, Anar Guldaverdi Oghlu Novruzov, NCOs Yashar Vasif Oghlu Babayev, Ilgar Ayaz Oglu Zeynali and contractual serviceman Elchin Arif Oghlu Mustafazade have died”, the deputy defense minister said.

Earlier Karim Valiyev said that Major-General of the Azerbaijani army Polad Hashimov and Colonel Ilgar Mirzoev have died in the clashes.

On July 12 the Azerbaijani defense ministry reported that four servicemen have died in the fighting.

The Azerbaijani armed forces launched an attack on an Armenian military base located in Tavush province on July 12, using artillery, mortars and UAVs. In addition, the Azerbaijani side also shelled the town of Chinari in the province with mortars, damaging civilian homes. On July 14 the Azerbaijani armed forces continued targeting the civilian infrastructures of the Armenian town of Berd, using an attacking drone.
