Prosperous Armenia representative gave bribes to voters in exchange for support, Anti-Corruption Committee says

Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Committee has said that a member of the Prosperous Armenia party provided election bribes to a group of voters in exchange for voting in favour of the party. The committee also released audio recordings related to the case.

“Measures carried out by officers of the Anti-Corruption Committee of the Republic of Armenia and the Shirak Regional Directorate of the National Security Service have resulted in the obtaining of factual data within the framework of criminal proceedings initiated by the Anti-Corruption Committee. The data indicate that a member of the Prosperous Armenia party, who is also a parliamentary candidate and acting on behalf of the party, provided election bribes to a number of voters on the condition that they vote for the party and recruit individuals willing to support the party in exchange for election bribes,” the committee said in a statement.

As part of the criminal proceedings initiated by the Anti-Corruption Committee, public criminal prosecutions have been launched, several individuals have been detained, and searches and other procedural actions have been carried out.
