Armenian PM announces personal donation to Museum of the Bible

1 minute read

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced on Monday that he will donate a copy of the Bible, which he has had since 2008, to the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C.

He said he received the book while in hiding following the deadly post-election unrest in Yerevan in 2008 when he was a supporter of the opposition.

“I got this Bible when I was in hiding,” Pashinyan said in a video posted on social media, showing the book in his office. “I’d like to remind you that I was in hiding from March 2, 2008, until July 1, 2009. I carried it with me afterward in prison, for one year and eleven months.”

“During my recent visit to the United States, I came up with the idea and promised to donate this copy to the Museum of the Bible in Washington. I will soon send the gift to the museum. I believe this very important and meaningful book will find its rightful place there.”
