United Airlines places $7 billion order for longest-range Airbus A321 jet

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 4, ARMENPRESS. United Airlines has placed a 7 billion-dollar order for its first long-range Airbus SE A321neo jets, amid Boeing’s struggle through the grounding of its 737 Max planes, Bloomberg reports.

The American United Airlines said it will buy 50 of Airbus’s A321XLR jets with deliveries set to begin in 2024, a year after the plane’s planned debut. The deal is valued at 7,1 billion dollars.

According to Bloomberg, United plans to start replacing its Boeing 757-200 jets with the XLR, the jet closest to the U.S. manufacturer’s aging model, which went out of production about 15 years ago.

“The new Airbus A321XLR aircraft is an ideal one-for-one replacement for the older, less-efficient aircraft currently operating between some of the most vital cities in our intercontinental network,” Andrew Nocella, United’s chief commercial officer, said in astatementTuesday.
