Government reveals reason behind revoking Taron Avia’s license

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 20, ARMENPRESS. Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan has revealed the reason behind the Armenian aviation regulator’s revoking of Taron Avia’s operating license.

Speaking to reporters on November 20th, Avinyan said the airline had problems with one of the European aviation agencies.

“Armenia cannot be favorable for companies who don’t want to be guided by certain international standards and rules. Taron Avia had problems with a European aviation organization. Our European colleagues notified us that the company [Taron Avia] doesn’t meet certain standards and its flights are problematic. We are toughening our requirements in all directions in terms of quality. Of course it is regrettable that an Armenian company has to withdraw from the market, but if we are talking about flight safety, this should be our priority, and we don’t have any place to relent here,” Avinyan said.

Armenia’s Civil Aviation Committee revoked Taron Avia’s operating license on November 6.
