Member of Supreme Judicial Council Hayk Hovhannisyan resigns

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 11, ARMENPRESS. Member of the Supreme Judicial Council of Armenia Hayk Hovhannisyan has resigned.

“Dear compatriots, today I submitted a resignation letter with the following reason:

According to my oath before the people of Armenia, since assuming this high position I initiated and guided several projects aimed at raising the efficiency, transparency and accountability of courts and making them in accordance with the best international standards.

I am confident that the launch and implementation of these projects will raise the public trust towards the judiciary and will contribute to the improvement of Armenia’s competitive economic field and investment climate”, he said on Facebook, adding that the judicial reforms should be implemented in an urgent and efficient manner. “Meanwhile, the Council doesn’t attach importance to several ideas and programs proposed by me. Taking into account this today I submitted my resignation letter to the Council, urging to discuss this issue without my presence”, he added.

Hayk Hovhannisyan was elected as member of the Supreme Judicial Council by the Parliament on February 28, 2018.
