YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 5, ARMENPRESS. Armenian President Armen Sarkissian held a meeting with President of Greece Procopios Pavlopolos in Yerevan on November 5, the Armenian President’s Office told Armenpress.
“Dear Mr. President, dear friend, welcome to Armenia, welcome to your home”, the Armenian President told his Greek counterpart. “The friendship of our peoples doesn’t need additional words because the millennia have proved that our peoples jointly created both culture, education and a history. We had both victories and many difficulties, sometimes together. Your today’s visit to Armenia is also historical because we are entering into a new century, the 21st century. The world is changing very rapidly, but those peoples who have both a history and a wish to work jointly, will act as successful countries and will be able to find the right decisions and solutions in difficult conditions”, the Armenian President said.
In his turn the Greek President thanked for the warm welcome and reception. “The relations between the two countries and peoples are firm and deep. We have quite a great opportunity to develop the relations. We have many commonalities, but also have a common pain. We know quite well and understand the value of independence and democracy, as well as the importance of the fight for the recognition of the Genocide”, he said.
President of Greece Procopios Pavlopolos together with spouse Vlassia Pavlopoulou arrived in Armenia on an official visit on November 5 at the invitation of President Sarkissian.
