Healthcare minister personally supervises treatment of HIV infected child amid investigation

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 1, ARMENPRESS. Minister of Healthcare Arsen Torosyan has declined to give details from the case in what authorities suspect to be a criminal transmission of HIV of a child.

“We have an unfortunate incident that a child has been diagnosed with HIV and we are doing everything for her life to be out of danger. The investigation will answer all other questions,” Torosyan told reporters.

“The child underwent treatment in numerous medical centers, but it is still not confirmed in which particular medical center she contracted the virus. It is confirmed that her parents do not have HIV,” he said.

Torosyan said the treatment of the child is under his personal supervision.
