Armenian parliament moves towards making animal abuse a crime

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 3, ARMENPRESS. The Parliamentary Committee on State-Legal Affairs has approved the bill on amending the Criminal Code to make animal abuse a crime in Armenia.

“There is no significant difference between a potential murderer and someone who deliberately tortures, abuses and destroys animals,” opposition MP Naira Zohrabyan, a co-author of the bill, told lawmakers at the committee.

The proposed regulations will enable to protect animals from torture, cruel treatment, and will maximally prevent such actions against animals.
