Yerevan medics dispatched to provinces to fill in vacancies

YEREVAN, MARCH 25, ARMENPRESS. Provincial medical facilities are in demand of doctors and medical personnel, with a number of positions remaining vacant.

The Healthcare Ministry of Armenia has launched a new program whereby it will dispatch doctors from Yerevan’s medical institutions to provinces.

“There are approximately 200 vacant positions in provincial medical facilities,” Deputy Minister of Healthcare Lena Nanushyan told lawmakers at the healthcare and social affairs committee in parliament.

She said the ministry is using the information to organize the allocation of residency positions. “These resident doctors sign contracts with the ministry and are dispatched to the given province upon graduation”.

The other project, by which Yerevan doctors are sent to provinces temporarily, will remunerate the medical personnel extra.

“During the given period of time doctors will receive their main salary, in addition to extra salary at the dispatched location, plus accommodation compensation,” Deputy Healthcare Minister Arsen Davtyan said.
