Boeing cancels presentation of new aircraft after plane crash in Ethiopia

YEREVAN, MARCH 11, ARMENPRESS. Boeing has cancelled the presentation of the new Boeing -777X wide body aircraft, planned for March 13, following the plane crash in Ethiopia, the company said.

“We will look for an opportunity to mark the new plane with the world in the near future,”Boeing said in a statement Sunday night, emphasizing that at the moment the company was focused on“supporting”Ethiopian Airlines in the wake of the tragic air accident, RT reported.

The Boeing 737 en route from Ethiopia’s capital of Addis Ababa to Kenya’s Nairobi crashed on Sunday morning near Debre Zeit in central Ethiopia. The plane lost contact six minutes after takeoff, the airline said. There were 149 passengers and 8 crewmembers on board the plane.

There are no survivors in the crash.

The planed carried people from over 30 countries.

March 11 has been declared a mourning day in Ethiopia.
