YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 27, ARMENPRESS. President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian on February 27 hosted PaulRemi - Vice President, regional director at THALES Group, one of the world’s leading companies providing services for the aerospace, defense, transportation and security markets.
PaulRemi arrived in Armenia at the invitation of President Sarkissian, the Presidential Office told Armenpress.
At the meeting the President said during the previous meetings with the THALES executives they have discussed the cooperation opportunities and possible directions. “We must reveal what we can do jointly. And this must be done with a broad spectrum”, the President said. “The advantage of Armenia is that we believe that we are innovative. The proof of this are the large number of startups in our country, as well as the development of startup culture. Secondly, today, following the changes, Armenia has become a younger country. People are excited and try to find solutions. We have a very high level of education. Here we have the American University of Armenia, the Russian-Armenian University, the French University, as well as the European University. This, of course, is an advantage. Thirdly, we are representing a unique market that includes countries such as Russia, Kazakhstan with which Armenia has close relations. We also need to take into account the presence of large Armenian community in Russia. We are also a member of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) which is a big market”, he added.
In his turn the THALES Vice President thanked the Armenian President for the invitation and stated: “THALES is a leading French and European technological company. We cannot forget the Central Asia market. We see you are in the crossroads of Asia and Europe. Armenia is engaged in One Belt, One Road project on which we are very concentrated. The proposals you made are very good and inspire trust, and as you have stated, a lot of Armenians live in Russia who have been successfully integrated into that country. I am happy that you propose cooperation opportunities with Armenia. We have not examined these opportunities in the past”.
The Armenian President expressed confidence that PaulRemi will use his time in Armenia to reveal the country, will visit various companies and educational facilities. “All these will give you a general vision and opportunity to plan what we can do”, Armen Sarkissian said.
