Speaker Mirzoyan highlights Armenian community’s special role in Russia in context of strengthening friendship between two peoples

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 26, ARMENPRESS. Armenia’s delegation led by Speaker of Parliament Ararat Mirzoyan, who is in Russia at the invitation of Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly Valentina Matviyenko, on February 26 visited the Memorial of the Unknown Soldier and paid tribute to the memory of the Great Patriotic War victims. The Armenian delegation members were accompanied by acting deputy Co-Chair of the Inter-Parliamentary Committee Igor Chernishenko, the Armenian Parliament told Armenpress.

Within the framework of the working visit the Speaker of the Armenian Parliament also visited the Holy Transfiguration Church of Russia and Nor Nakhichevan Diocese Seat of the Armenian Apostolic Church, took a tour in the Armenian educational centre and had a meeting with the representatives of the Armenian community.

During the meeting Ararat Mirzoyan introduced the agenda of the Moscow visit, the position of the authorities on a number of issues. In the context of strengthening the friendship between the Armenian and Russian peoples, he underlined the special role of the Armenian community in Russia.

The Armenian delegation members and the community representatives had an open and sincere discussion on a series of important public, educational and cultural issues concerning Armenia and Diaspora.
