Export from Armenia exceeds 2 billion USD for the first time: consistent work and expected figure

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 20, ARMENPRESS. Unprecedented economic figures have been recorded in Armenia in the 11 months of this year.

In January-November the export volumes exceeded 2 billionUSD for the first time in the period of Armenia’s independence.

Tigran Khachatryan – deputy minister of economic development and investments, told Armenpress that such figure was expected and is due to the government’s consistent policy directed to boosting exports.

“The export of goods for the first time exceeded 2 billion USD. Such figure, of course, was expected since, the export, as one of the driving forces of the economy, has recorded a stable growth tendency during the year”, the deputy minister said. According to him, the 7.3% increase of the economic activity is the highest over the past five years.

According to the data of the National Statistical Service of Armenia, in January-November 2017 a double-digit growth has been recorded in the services volume (14.2), trade turnover (14.4), industrial production volume (12.3), external trade turnover (26.4), export (23.5) and import (28). Decline was registered only in the volumes of gross agricultural output. Increase was registered in the construction field: compared to the same period of the previous year, the figure increased by 0.3% comprising 324 billion 558 million drams. The electricity production volume increased by 4.9% in January-November, 2017, compared to January-November, 2016.
