Erdogan holds phone talks with Russia’s Putin, Pope Francis over status of Jerusalem

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 8, ARMENPRESS. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held phone conversations with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Pope Francis regarding US President Donald Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, Diken reports.

During the phone talk with President Putin, Erdogan said Trump’s decision will negatively affect the regional peace and stability.

The Turkish President thanked Pope Francis for the statement on keeping the status of Jerusalem unchanged. He once again highlighted the need to refrain from any initiative aimed at changing the status of the city.

US President Donald Trump on December 6 announced officially recognizing Jerusalem as an Israeli capital.
