Erdogan calls on Trump to drop idea on declaring Jerusalem as Israel’s capital

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 5, ARMENPRESS. Turkey’s president Recep Tayyip Erdogan has warned US President Donald Trump that if Washington were to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, the Turkish-Israeli relations might be severed, Milliyet reports.
“Jerusalem is a red line for Muslims. All of this can lead to the suspension of our relations with Israel. We once again call on the US to refrain from such step. You can’t do such thing. In case of such an action, we will convene a summit of the Islamic Cooperation Organization within 5-10 days in Istanbul, where we will launch a worldwide movement of the Islamic World”, Erdogan said.
US media reports say Donald Trump is expected to declare Jerusalem as Israel’s capital on December 6 during a planned speech.
