YEREVAN, JUNE 15, ARMENPRESS/ARTSAKHPRESS. Colonel Senor Hasratyan – chief of the information & PR department of Artsakh’s Defense Army commented on the border situation and the latest military exercises of Azerbaijan.
Colonel Hasratyan, please briefly comment on the tactical situation in the line of contact.
“The situation in the frontline is under the constant and full control of the Defense Army units. The situation is calm compared to the developments of last year’s escalations in April. Of course ceasefire violations by Azerbaijan happen, but not in the previous intensity. Various caliber firearms are mainly used, while in some cases mortars. If necessary, the Defense Army takes preventive measures and suppresses the adversary’s aggression.”
Judging by the Azerbaijani media reports, it seems that they are holding various level military exercises quite often, including jointly with the Turkish military, during which armaments of their arsenal like the TOS rocket launcher are used. How would you comment on this?
“Military exercises are one of the important components of strategic-professional training of the Armed Forces, and every Army must use them. It’s another issue in terms of to what extent the given Army uses this component and what goal it pursues with it. I wouldn’t want to underestimate such events which are held by our adversary, but it is also impossible to notice the frequency of constant reports about them, the majority of which being propaganda, and therefore an impression of psychological influence is being created, rather of productive process.
Regarding the usage of modern armaments during the military exercises, this is also natural. By the way, Azerbaijan was also using this kind of weapons during the military exercises before the April War, however life showed that it is one thing to use them in training, but a completely different thing in the battlefield. Our relevant services are closely following the developments in the adversary’s side and take timely steps if necessary.”
