Official welcoming ceremony of Tajikistan’s President held in Armenian Presidential Palace

YEREVAN, JUNE 14, ARMENPRESS. President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon arrived in Armenia on June 14 on official visit at the invitation of President Serzh Sargsyan, press service of the President’s Office told Armenpress.
In the morning of June 14, Tajikistan’s President visited Tsitsernakaberd Memorial where he laid a wreath at the memorial by paying a tribute to the memory of the innocent victims of the Armenian Genocide. President Emomali Rahmon also watered thefir tree planted by him at the Memory park.
The official welcoming ceremony of Tajikistan’s President was held in the Presidential Palace which was followed by a private meeting between Presidents Serzh Sargsyan and Emomali Rahmon.
Welcoming the guest, President Serzh Sargsyan said his visit to Armenia is symbolic since this year marks the 25th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Tajikistan.
According to the President, such visits are good opportunity to analyze and summarize the way the two countries have passed over the 25 years, and on the other hand, they are good chance to exchange views on development prospect of bilateral relations, as well as on current regional and international affairs.
President Sargsyan attached importance to the documents which will be signed within the frames of Tajikistan’s President’s visit which, according to him, will boost the bilateral relations agenda that is necessary since the current level of cooperation is not in accordance with the level of friendship of the two peoples and the inter-state relations between both countries.
Serzh Sargsyan said Armenia is ready for active cooperation at any field and talked with satisfaction about the business forum and inter-governmental commission’s session held in Yerevan.
In his turn President of Tajikistan thanked the Armenian President for the invitation to Armenia and the warm reception. Among the prospective directions, President Emomali Rahmon mentioned the fields of trade, agricultural goods production and processing, food industry, light industry, mining industry, energy, telecommunication, science and education, healthcare. He said his delegation includes business circle representatives who are taking part in the Yerevan business forum.
President Rahmon appreciated Armenia’s business community, stating that Armenia has great achievements especially in agricultural products processing field, and Tajikistan would also like to acquire skills considering the latest technologies and innovations of the field.
Within the frames of Tajikistan President’s official visit, extended format talks kicked off at the Presidential Palace with participation of delegations of the two states.
