Cops launch investigation on report of Haykakan Zhamanak daily journalist

YEREVAN, MAY 16, ARMENPRESS. Anna Zakharyan, a reporter of the Haykakan Zhamanak daily (Armenian Times), filed a report on May 12 in the Yerevan Police Department that on May 11, from 20:30 to 21:00, ballots and election bribes were distributed to citizens in the campaign district HQ of incumbent mayor Taron Margaryan in 11/3 Kurghinyan Street, and when she tried to film it, a man grabbed her mobile phone, entered the HQ and deleted the numbers and sms from the phone, and 15 minutes later another man returned her phone, undamaged.

Criminal proceedings were launched on obstruction of a reporter and vote buying.

The special investigative service is probing the case.
