YEREVAN, MARCH 2, ARMENPRESS. The expected result of the New York Business Forum was firstly raising awareness on Armenia’s business environment and economy, followed by real actions, Development Foundation of Armenia’s CEO Garen Mikirditsian told ARMENPRESS.
According to him, the event was successful in both directions.
Mikirditsian said for the first time Armenia initiated such process, not having such a global scale forum for a long time, which presented our country as a successful investment environment.
“It so happened that the forum’s timing coincided with the formation of the new Cabinet, when the state was clearly underscoring the priority of improving Armenia’s investment environment. The Armenian President mentioned at the forum this very fact and the international community, investors and the Diaspora-Armenians received it very positively. We felt there is movement there, and people touched upon Armenia and its potential investment environment. There were even people who had negative perceptions about our country, however their false perception was changed through the forum. Six month after the forum I already see investors are more interested in Armenia, not only from the US, but also from Middle Eastern countries, Europe and Russia”, he said, adding he has met with multiple investors in Armenia after returning from the forum, who were engaged in different events, mainly regarding solar energy.
According to him, the same companies and investors who heard about Armenia at the forum, are now present in Armenia’s events, which will give results.
He stresses that private companies and international financial organizations have expressed interest for the business programs which were presented at the forum, one of the international financial organizations being the Asian Bank. The latter is interested in several large-scale investments in Armenia.
According to Mikirditsian, the results will be visible soon.
