YEREVAN, JANUARY 26, ARMENPRESS. The Armenian economic activity index for January-December 2016 surpassed the index of the same period of the previous year by 0.5%. The index rose by 17.9% in December 2016 compared to November. “Armenpress” reports the National Statistical Serviceofthe Republic of Armenia has introduced the current-operative preliminary main macro-economic indicators characterizing thesocio-economic situationofArmenia.
Construction, electricity production and gross agricultural output have dropped. Consumer price index dropped by 1.4%, index of the price of industrial production rose by 1.5 %. Construction volume decreased by 10.8% compared to the same period of the previous year. There is a 6.2% decrease in electricity production. Service volume (trade excluded) rose by 7.1% and the gross agricultural output decreased by 5.2% in 2016.
In the period of January-December 2016, trade turnover rose by 1% compared to the same period of 2015 and amounted to 2 trillion 233 billion and 593.7 million AMD. Industrial production volume grew by 6.7% amounting 1 trillion 429 billion and 44 million AMD.
Average monthly wage increased by 1.7% (187 thousand 850 drams). This is when average monthly wage in the public sector decreased by 1.8% (161 thousand 872 drams). In the private sector average monthly salary rose by 4.6% (221 thousand and 850 drams).
External trade turnover volumes grew by 7.4% (5 billion 75.3 million USD) against January-December 2015, while exports increased by 20% (1 billion 782.9 million USD) and imports decreased by 1.6% (3 billion 292.4 million USD). US exchange rate against the dram was 480.49.
