YEREVAN, JANUARY 24, ARMENPRESS. A group of ethnic Turkish cab drivers in Berlin have insulted and threatened German lawmaker Cem Özdemir , co-chair of the Alliance '90/The Greens party, the German Berliner Zeitung newspaper reported, saying Ozdemir has sent a letter to Berlin’s Union of Taxi Drivers on the incident.
Ozdemir said one of the reasons he was insulted and threatened is Germany’s adoption of the Armenian Genocide resolution. “I don’t see any problem when they express their thoughts, but insults, threats and aggressive attitude has always been the tipping point for me”, Ozdemir said in the letter.
Leszek Nadolski, president of the Union responded to Ozdemir’s letter, saying he was upset by what has happened.
Germany’s Parliament recognized the Armenian Genocide on June 2, 2016.
