YEREVAN, JANUARY 12, ARMENPRESS. In order to get a notice on marital status from the Justice Ministry for registering a marriage abroad, previously citizens were required to apply to the regional registry of the residence and then to the Justice Ministry. However, in accordance to the recent changes made by the Government, citizens no longer have to apply to the regional department.

Justice Minister Arpine Hovhannisyan explained the change in an interview with ARMENPRESS.

“Previously, when citizens had changed their residence address several times after the marriageable age, they were forced to apply to the regional registry departments which was rather time consuming and required additional expenses. Now there is no need for this red tape”, the minister said.

According to the Justice Minister, citizens are only required to present a passport to receive the notice.

As a new function, the Justice Ministry will from now present a bilingual (Armenian-English or Armenian-Russia) notices upon request. The minister also added that soon citizens will be enabled to present various applications for notices online, via www.e-gov.am, www.moj.am.
