YEREVAN, DECEMBER 14, ARMENPRESS. Cultural figures highly appreciated their visit to the Nagorno Karabakh Republic and the meetings with Presidents of Armenia and the NKR, reports “Armenpress”.
Rector of State Academy of Fine Arts Aram Isabekyan told reporters on December 14 he firstly would like to address his words of praise to Culture Minister Armen Amiryan for organizing this initiative. Isabekyan was mostly impressed by the meeting with soldiers.
“I really saw a shine in their eyes. Such kind of contacts are very important for the soldiers. The meetings with NKR President Bako Sahakyan were very important. A very interesting and in-detail meeting was held. We have made our proposals, and listened to theirs”, Isabekyan said and expressed hope such kind of meetings between the cultural figures of Armenia and the NKR will be more frequent.
President of the Writers Union of Armenia Edward Militonyan stated the meetings were important since a number of issues were discussed, including also issues related to Armenia-Diaspora-Karabakh cultural ties.
“The problem is that we are living in three different situations in Armenia, Diaspora and the NKR and we are not holding a serious discussion over this issue. In Nagorno Karabakh especially after the four-day war, the level of tension is high. People are living by feeling that the war is not very far away from them. We have a one way to unite Armenia, the NKR and Diaspora, which is culture which must be spread through all means”, Militonyan said.
He also proposed to declare the 2017 as a year of literature, for which the project has already been submitted to the Culture Ministry which will include the cultural fields of the NKR and Diaspora.
Director of Pan-national Theater Vardan Mkrtchyan is also happy for this initiative. He said this is a good chance to hold meetings not only with the NKR, but also Armenia’s partners. He said during the meeting with the NKR President they were informed about one important thing that recently the NKR’s population has been slightly increased.
“The NKR Culture Chamber is holding at least 300 ceremonies within a year. This means that there is no lack of cultural events. The problem is what mechanisms to find in order for the professional to develop and spread their product abroad. Today the NKR people face a concrete problem: they are unable to spread their culture”, Vardan Mkrtchyan said, adding that they held a long discussion on this topic with the NKR President.
