Istanbul terror attack: Death toll rises to 44

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 12, ARMENPRESS. The death toll in Istanbul’s Beşiktaş district terror attack continues to rise, reports Hurriyet.

Turkey’s Healthcare Minister Recep Akdağsaid the death toll rose to 44.

“44 people were killed, 36 of them are police officers, and 8 are civilians”, he said.

On December 10 a terror attack was carried out in Istanbul’s Beşiktaş district. The first blast was a car bomb in a Chevrolet vehicle. According to Vice PM Nurman Kurtulmush, around 300-400kg explosive was used. The second bombing was carried out by a suicide attack. 155 people wounded in the terror attack.

The Kurdistan Freedom Falcons (TAK) claimed responsibility for the terror attack, however, Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said the Kurdistan Workers’ Party is responsible for the attack.
