Aliyev acknowledges the international community exerts pressure on recognition of NKR’s independence

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 8, ARMENPRESS. The official Baku is no longer able to hide that the international community stresses the necessity of the recognition of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic, the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said at the Government’s session, reports “Armenpress”.
“They are exerting pressure on us behind the closed doors aiming to lead to the recognition of the NKR’s independence. We don’t reveal many details since there are diplomatic rules”, Aliyev said.
The Azerbaijani President said active propaganda is being carried out against Azerbaijan over the NKR’s recognition. He even blamed the media and non-governmental organizations of the Western countries on this issue.
It is important to state that United States’ Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock has officially proclaimed September 21, 2016 as “Armenian Independence Day” for the “twin states of the Armenian homeland, Armenia and Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh Republic).
The proclamation notes that “the NKR continues the monumental struggle to maintain its indigenous Armenian identity, preserve medieval monuments and secure its borders against war crimes”.
