Armenia’s weightlifting team coach comments on doping scandal

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 6, ARMENPRESS. Pashik Alaverdyan, Head Coach of the Armenian Weightlifting Team told ARMENPRESS it’s too early to speak about the disqualification of the entire team. Alaverdyan commented on the announcement of the International Weightlifting Federation, according to which weightlifter Norayr Vardanyan used performance enhancing substances during the 2012 London Olympics.

“The entire team can be disqualified only in case of being “busted” within a year. For example in the case of Russians, they were disqualified because the youth, teenagers and adults were checked. And this case happened within 8 years. Final results will be known only when discussions are over, and that’s when we will talk about the team’s disqualification”, he said.
