Armenian President to appoint Prime Minister within ten days after acceptance of Government’s resignation

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 8, ARMENPRESS. According to the Article 55 of the Armenian Constitution, President of Armenia appoints Prime Minister within ten days after the acceptance of the Government’s resignation.
The Government is formed after appointing Prime Minister within 20 days.
The President of the Republic shall accept the resignation of the Government on the day of the first sitting of the newly elected National Assembly, of the assumption of the office by the President of the Republic, of the expression of the vote of no confidence to the Government, of not giving approval to the program of the Government, of the resignation of the Prime Minister or when the office of the Prime Minister remains vacant. After the acceptance of the resignation of the Government by the President of the Republic the members of the Government shall continue discharging their responsibilities until the formation of the new Government.
The Article 74 of the Constitution defines that the Government shall within twenty days after its formation present its program to the National Assembly. The issue of approval of the program of the Government by the National Assembly shall be discussed on a priority basis and voted within five days after its presentation. The resolution on approval of the program of the Government shall be adopted by a majority vote of the total number of the Deputies.
