Poet Davit Hovhannes dies at 71

YEREVAN, JULY 19, ARMENPRESS. Armenian poet, translator, Honored Worker of Culture of Armenia Davit Hovhannes has passed away at the age of 71.

Davit Hovhannes was born on February 17, 1945 in Yerevan. He graduated the faculty of Philology at Yerevan State University. He has worked in Armenia’s periodical press, “ArmenFilm” studio, he gave lectures on history of ancient and foreign literature in several universities of Armenia. He was a member of the Writers’ Union of Armenia since 1975. He has been the chair of “Arevik” publishing directors’ board. He translated the works of the Russian, Ukrainian, American classical poets.
