YEREVAN, JUNE 15, ARMENPRESS. Expert on International Rights Vladimir Vardanyan says the claim to the Constitutional Court of Germany which seeks to cancel the Bundestag recognition of the Armenian Genocide – has no judicial perspectives.
Previously, Turkish attorney Melih Akkurt has filed a claim to the Constitutional Court of Germany which seeks the cancellation of the Bundestag recognition of the Armenian Genocide.
“In this case the person who files the claim should present enough grounds that the document has violated Constitutional rights and that it doesn’t match German laws and should be reviewed. There is so such issue in this case, first of all the resolution is a parliamentary one: it doesn’t have the level of a law, it cannot be put to force against individuals, moreover it cannot violate anyone’s rights, including the Turkish attorney, who tries to maintain spotlight on this issue by this step”, he said.
“Therefore, I do not see any judicial perspective in this case and in my opinion the Constitutional Court of Germany will make its position clear on this issue”, he added.
On June 2 the Bundestag adopted the "Remembrance and commemoration of the genocide of Armenians and other Christian minorities in 1915 and 1916" resolution.
