Day Off at Candidates’ Tournament: Levon Aronian shares 3-4 place

YEREVAN, MARCH 22, ARMENPRESS. Armenian GM Levon Aronian shares the 3-4th places with Fabiano Caruana with 5 points after the 9th round of the Candidates’ Tournament. As "Armenpress" reports, Aronian was defeated by Indian chess player Vishwanatan Anand in the 9th round. All the other matches of the 9th round ended in a draw.

After the 9th round the tournament’s rankings are leaded by Sergey Karyakin and Vishwanatan Anand with 5.5 points.

Levon Aronian and Fabiano Caruana have 5 points and share the 3-4 places. Anish Giri is 5th with 4.5 points, Peter Svidler 6th with 4 points. Hikaru Nakamura has 3.5 points and is 7th. Veselin Topalov concludes the ranking.

March 22 is a day off at the tournament. On March 23, Peter Svidler -Hikaru Nakamura, Anish Giri Sergey Karyakin, Fabiano Caruana-Vishwanatan Anand, Levon Aronian- Veselin Topalov will compete against each other.
