YEREVAN, MARCH 10, ARMENPRESS. Recent Anti-Armenian publications in the US media fit into Baku's recently adopted policy; That is to present Armenia in a negative way on different platforms. Political scientist Hrant Melik-Shahnazaryan said at a press conference in "Armenpress" media hall. According to him, this is due to the desire of Azerbaijan to not continue negotiations to settle the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
"During the last year we have seen that Azerbaijan has done everything to stop the negotiation process and make various issues related to the Armenian-Azerbaijani relations become subject of discussions in international organizations. Two anti-Armenian resolutions were put into circulation in PACE. Using the February period they tried to present the events in Khojaly as genocide. In addition, they are trying to use agreements reached in the context of the Armenian-Russian relations to spoil the relations of Armenia with the West. And one of the main goals of the articles published in the American press is to show that Armenia is only cooperating with Russia in the region. Azerbaijan is trying to find allies in the West to advance these political positions, "the political scientist said.
The second goal is to show to the society that there is progress in the U.S-Azerbaijani relations, and that there is loyal attitude towards official Baku by the U.S. According to the political scientist, this is a preparatory stage for Ilham Aliyev's upcoming visit to the U.S. This is an attempt to use this period to create a public sentiment, showing that all is well in the Azerbaijan-US relations.
Referring to the new thesis in the field of information policy of Azerbaijan, Hrant Melik-Shahnazaryan presented the new report of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry. There are proposed theses in the report, which, according to the political scientist, will be the core of the upcoming Azerbaijani anti-Armenian propaganda. It refers to Armenia’s liberated areas, the dividends which occurred from the presence of the Armenian force. The report includes accusations related to the exploitation of natural resources, export of minerals, resettlement of the area and many more. Hrant Melik-Shahnazaryan noted that during Azerbaijan’s next activities this thesis will become a subject of discussion. The goal is once again to distract the negotiation process from the main direction.
