Pedro Agramunt elected as PACE’s President

YEREVAN, JANUARY 25, ARMENPRESS. Pedro Agramunt, a Spanish MP was elected bythe Parliamentary Assembly ofthe Council ofEurope (PACE) asits president during PACE’s winter plenary session in Strasbourg. He will replace Anne Brasseur.

As “Armenpress” reports, Agramunt was the chairman of the European People's Party at the Council of Europe (EPP-CD) Group. Agramunt had been nominated for the position in 2015. Pedro Agramunt will occupy the post till 2018.

Pedro Agramunt has been a member of the Spanish Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe since 2000. He is an author of numerous reports, and has served as a co-rapporteurof Azerbaijan monitoring.

As Azerbaijani media report, the great friend of Azerbaijan - Pedro Agramunt – was an active opponent of Christoph Strässer’s report on Azerbaijani political prisoners during its adoption on January, 2013.
