5 policemen and 3 citizens injured during protests against price hikes in Azerbaijan

YEREVAN, JANUARY 14, ARMENPRESS. Five policemen and three demonstrators were injured during the protests in Siyazan, Azerbaijan. Protests were against the price hikes which turned into riots.

As “Armenpress” reports, citing Azerbaijani Media, Police used force against peaceful protesters during the time of breaking up a protest action. Police used tear gas and rubber bullets to break up the rally. A total of 55 protesters were detained during the police operation to restore public order. The detainees are aged between 18 and 45.

“Turan” informs that Measures to prevent violent protests are continuing in Lankaran, Fizuli, Siazan, Aghjabedi and other locations.

The Azerbaijani government has not so far commented on the protests.
