4,6% growth in industrial products is considered achievement in Armenia

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 23, ARMENPRESS. 2015 was a rather complicated year for the industry of Armenia. “Armenpress” reports that head of Department of Industry Development of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia Armen Eganyan expressed such an opinion during the press-conference of “Armenpress”. According to him, there is decline in the prices of nonferrous metals within international processes and the situation is instable in the Russian market. Despite the difficult conditions, external challenges, according to the head of Department of Industry Development, it must be noted that even in such conditions, as of the indicators of this year’s 11 months, 4,6% growth in industrial products has been registered.

“We can consider that having growth in such complicated conditions is an achievement. The growth in mine industry amounts to 50,2 %, growth in electricity, gas, steam and conditioned air supplies - 3,7 %. Reduction was recorded in the sector of processed Industry. Decline amounts to 4,2% here. Mainly reduction has registered in the production of beverages, as well as in the production of food. We must note that positive tendencies are already noticed in reference to the decline in the production of beverages. Namely, if the decline formed over 40% at the beginning of the year, now the number has dropped down to 20%,” Eganyan said. On the other hand, growth has been witnessed in the production of clothes, shoes, pharmacy etc.

He also noted that by cooperating with the private sector, solving the problems jointly, growth has been ensured in different sectors. 22 big companies started their activities this year; the amount of investments formed 65-70 billion AMD. 2600 additional jobs have been created.
