President of Armenian Union of Architects considers 2015 was complicated in terms of urban development

YEREVAN, DECEBER 22, ARMENPRESS. 2015 was full of complications in terms of architecture and urban development. As “Armenpress” reports, President of Armenian Union of Architects Mkrtich Minasyan said the aforementioned on December 22.
According to Mkrtich Minasyan, architecture is closely connected with the country’s economy. If artists can work in their studios, writers – offices, architect’s work is complicated and interesting, as it’s closely connected with economy. He also added that they have organized numerous meeting, evenings, commemoration meetings and jubilees.
Regarding achievements, President of Armenian Union of Architects emphasized that in case the economy of the country is in good condition, there can also be expected achievements in architecture. Many projects remained on the paper because of lack of financing. The construction of district 33 is among those projects, there are many other projects which require big investments.
“The newly-built structure of the MFA has been constructed and put into operation in Shahumyan square recently. This is a big and tangible achievement. Many projects have been suspended due to economic problems, but we are hopeful that it will be possible to realize the construction of the new building of the National Gallery so that only the History Museum remains within the current building,” Minasyan said.
The President of Armenian Union of Architects informs that activities have been undertaken during 2015 related to the development of the Republic of Armenia Law on Architecture as in case of its adoption, as Minasyan expects, many architectural problems will be overcome.
