Russian authorities propose to ban imports of clothing from Turkey

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 22, ARMENPRESS. Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade proposes to ban the import of 70-80% of light industrial products supplied to Russia from Turkey. As Armenpress reports, Viktor Evtukhov, State Secretary,DeputyMinister ofIndustry and Tradeof the Russian Federation, informed about this.

The appropriate proposal according to Evtukhov, was sent to the government. "What is decided, I cannot say right now" - Interfax agency quotes Evtukhov’s speech.

In early December, when Russia announced about the sanctions against Turkey, Denis Manturov, Russian Minister ofTradeandIndustry, said that to involving an embargo on Turkish products of light industry are not planned.

Light industry goods were the second largest item of imports from Turkey. In the first nine months of 2015 fabrics and textile products worth 514 million dollars and shoes cost $ 48 million were imported to Russia from Turkey.

Russia imposed sanctions against Turkey after the Turkish Air Force shot down a Russian Su-24 bomber on November 24.

The sanctions include in particular a ban on imports of some products. The embargo will come into force on 1 January 2016.
