RF MFA: Linking prolongation of EU sanctions with conflict settlement in Ukraine is groundless

MOSCOW, DECEMBER 21, ARMENPRESS. Linking prolongation of EU sanctions against Russia with conflict settlement in Donbas is artificial and groundless. “Armenpress” reports, citing “Novosti” agency, RF MFA announced about this.

Earlier, the EU Council had prolonged EU economic sanctions against Russia until31July2016 considering the situation in Ukraine.

“By December 21, 2015 decision of the EU Council the economic sanctions against Russia have been prolonged until July 31, 2016”, reads the statement.

It is expected that the decision will enter into force on December 22, when the appropriate legal acts are published in the Official Journalof theEuropean Union.

EU sanctions against Russia had to be lifted on January 31, 2016.
