Armenia and Greece condemn Turkish support to “Islamic State”

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 16, ARMENPRESS. Armenia and Greece condemn Turkish support to the “Islamic State” organization and downing the Russian jet. Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan and Greek Ministerof NationalDefensePanagiotis(Panos)Kammenos referred to regional security issues in Yerevan in a briefing followed by the bilateral meeting. “We have neighbors who support the “Islamic State”, we condemn the activities of Turkey against our strategic partner. We think that Turkey’s underground activities do not allow to implement the measures directed against terrorism”, “Armenpress” reports Seyran Ohanyan said, adding that Turkey violates the airspace of Greece very often, and there have also been attempts to violate the Armenian air space but Armenia and Greece have tolerated those steps, therefore, Turkey should have tolerated as well, particularly, considering that the Russian jet had not entered into the Turkish air space.

Greek Defense Minister also condemned Turkish activities in terms of supporting the “Islamic State”, at the same time stressing that Turkey was unable to prove that the Russian jet had violated the state Turkish border.

Turkish-Russian relations worsened after the Russian bomber was shot down over Syria by an air-to-air surface fired from a Turkish F-16 plane when the bomber was at an altitude of 6,000 meters at a distance of 1 km from the Turkishborder. The jet dropped 4 km away from the Turkish border. The incident took place on November 24.

According to President Putin, theSu-24 plane incident in is "a stab in Russia’s back” delivered by terrorist accomplices.
