Edmon Marukyan to head “Bright Armenia” opposition political party

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 12, ARMENPRESS. Non-party MP Edmon Marukyan was elected as the Chairman of the Board of the newly created political party “Bright Armenia”. According to the regulations of the political party, the Chairman of the Board assumes the position of the head of the political party. “Armenpress” reports that the founding congress of the political party was held on December 12. Members of the party’s board, control committees were elected; the program of the party was confirmed. Member of “I am against” (Dem em)civil initiative Gevorg Gorgisyan, Mane Tandilyan, analyst of lragir.am website Hayk Konjoryan, journalist Ani Samsonyan are included in the board of the party.

EdmonMarukyan answered the journalists’ questions at the end of the event. Mainly he stated they would act as opposition political force.

In reply to the question if they might join other political forces during 2017 parliamentary elections, Marukyan noted:

“Union on ideological ground is possible. There are political forces speaking about European integration, I think that cooperation is about to start. At this point, it is early to speak about another political force we may cooperate with.”

He added that “Bright Armenia” has no aspirations to become a person-political party.
