Film director Eldar Ryazanov dies at the age of 88

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 30, ARMENPRESS. The legendary film director Eldar Ryazanov died in Moscow at the age of 88.

Ryazanov died onMonday night, RIA Novosti reported, citing his grandson Dmitry Troyanovskiy.

“He passed away,” “Armenpress” informs, Troyanovskiy told reporters.

In the last year, Ryazanov was hospitalized several times. In November, 2014, he was hospitalized inBurdenko Neurosurgery clinic ina critical state, and was later released inJanuary, 2015.

Last August Ryazanov was hospitalized atthe Bakulev Scientific Center forCardiovascular Surgery amidmedia reports ofa heart attack. Later his relatives disproved that information. In September and October he was undergoing scheduled medical treatment. On November, 21, news reports emerged that Ryazanov was hospitalized again forexamination inone ofthe Russian capital clinics.

Ryazanov directed some ofthe most popular and beloved Soviet Era comedies such asIrony ofFate, The Garageand Office Romance. He received one ofthe top Soviet artistry tittles— People's Artist ofthe USSR— in1984 and received the USSR State Prize in1977, Sputnik News reports.
