Dnepropetrovsk adopts resolution on Armenian Genocide recognition

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 28, ARMENPRESS. The statement issued by Azerbaijani mass media that allegedly the Mayor of Ukraine’s Dnepropetrovsk city has denied the draft resolution on Armenian Genocide recognition does not correspond to reality.

Member of Dnepropetrovsk City Council, representative of Armenian community Edik Baghdasaryan told “Armenpress” that the Mayor had signed the decision a week before and it is installed in the website of the Municipality.

Baghdasaryan has even made a copy of the decision to send to media representatives to refute Azerbaijani media frauds.

“Dnepropetrovsk City Council put the issue of Armenian Genocide recognition up for discussion in September of this year. The Turks and Azerbaijanis made a lot of noise then. Even the Turkish Consul in Ukraine had arrived at the Municipality demanding not to adopt the resolution. During this month they frequently came to the Municipality and spared no efforts to prevent the adoption of the resolution. But on September 24 Dnepropetrovsk signed the resolution introduced by the city council and it entered into force”, Baghdasaryan said.

Ukraine’s Dnepropetrovsk city has recognized the events of 1915 in Ottoman Empire as genocide. Azerbaijani media had spread misinformation that the Mayor had denied to sign the resolution introduced by the city council.
