Expert in Arabian studies does not consider Russia’s intervention as satisfactory to resolve Syrian conflict

YEREVAN, October 23, ARMENPRESS. Russia’s intervention into the Syrian conflict brought to a new situation. But Russia’s intervention pursues not only military but also political purposes. Expert in Arabian studies Armen Petrosyan expressed such an opinion in the interview with “Armenprress”, referring to the latest events in Syria. “This is evidenced by the fact that Syrian president Bashar al-Assad’s visit to Moscow and the meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin were organized. This indicates that Russia persuades not only military purposes but also political perspectives, that’s why it started the airstrikes in Syria”, expert in Arabian studies emphasized, as “Armenpress” reports.

He expressed an opinion that no matter how effective Russia’s military intervention is, anyway it cannot resolve the Syrian conflict, as it turned into external diplomatic podium from internal political struggle, where geopolitical powers and regional countries are involved. “Such political format is necessary here, which will arrange resolution in the termination of all foreign interventions and in the struggle against Islamic extremists groups. This was the kind of format where it will be possible to reach the resolution of Syrian conflict”, expert in Arabian studies concluded.
