Moscow conference on genocides to attract attention of Russian scientific circles

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 22, ARMENPRESS. The conference on genocides due to be held at an Armenian monastery complex in Moscow on October 23 will give an opportunity to attract the attention of Russian scientific circles. Deputy Director of Armenian Genocide Institute-Museum Suren Manukyan told “Armenpress” about this.

“The conference to be held in Moscow on October 23-24 and its place are more symbolic considering the title of the conference: “Genocide as a spiritual and moral crime against humanity”. The conference has a vital importance among international scientific events of 2015 for a number of reasons. First, it will be held in Moscow which gives an opportunity to attract the attention of Russian scientific circles. Genocide Science, unfortunately, is not well-developed in Russia yet as a sphere of science and we hope that this conference will change the situation to some extent. It is for us top priority issue”, Suren Manukyan emphasized.

Deputy Director of Armenian Genocide Institute-Museum added that the conference can boost Armenian Genocide examination in Moscow. It can arise interest among Armenian youth in Moscow making the theme of Armenian Genocide the subject of their examination.

“Nearly 3 dozens of prominent experts on Armenia and genocides from 15 countries, including the current and the former presidents of InternationalAssociation of Genocide Scholars, Andrew Woolford and Alex Hinton, will participate in the conference”, Suren Minasyan informed.

Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute and Armenian Apostolic monastery complexofRussia and New Nakhijevan are the organizers of the conference.
