President al-Assad and President Putin meet in Moscow to discuss military operations against terrorism

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 21, ARMENPRESS. President Bashar al-Assad met with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on Tuesday in the Russian capital Moscow. “Armenpress” reports the aforesaid referring to Sana news agency.

The visit came upon an invitation by the Russian President. Both presidents discussed continuing the military operations against terrorism in Syria.

According to Reuters the visit is believed to be Assad's first foreign trip since the outbreak of the Syrian crisis in 2011 and comes three weeks after Russia launched a campaign of air strikes against Islamist militants in Syria on Sept. 30.

At Assad's request Russia started striking the positions of ISIS on October 30. The military operations included 50 aircrafts and helicopters.
