YEREVAN, OCTOBER 15, ARMENPRESS. President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan made an address at the International Conference “Armenian Genocide – 100: From recognition to compensation”.
As “Armenpress” was informed by the Department of Public Relations and Mass Media of the Office of the President of the Republic of Armenia, the message of the President reads:
Dear Attendees of the Conference,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I cordially welcome you on the occasion of the opening of the International Conference “Armenian Genocide – 100: From recognition to compensation”.
French writer and philanthrope Anatole Francenoted back in 1916:
“Armenia is dying, but it will survive. The little blood that is left is precious blood that will give birth to a heroic generation. A nation that does not want to die, does not die”.
Yes, our nation did not die, it survived, reestablished its statehood and today is a claimant of justice and the latter presupposes serious preparatory activities including research.
It is not coincidental that science-research conferences occupy unique place in the events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. I think the conference opening today will be distinguished by the fact that, being entitled “From recognition to compensation'” and being dedicated to further studies of the large scope of issues related to the Armenian Genocide, it simultaneously pays attention to the elimination of the consequences and compensation of that gravest crime against humanity.
Greeting once again the organizers of this highly significant conference; the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia and Yerevan State University, I wish efficient work to the attendees.
