Armenian pupils create games by programs of Massachusetts Institute of Technology

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 14, ARMENPRESS. Second DigicodeYouthProgramming Contestwill be launched soon, which aims to develop algorithmic thinking of Armenian schoolchildren and raise interestedness in programming. “Armenpress” reports that the President of Union ofInformation Technology Enterprises, Karen Vardanyan, told the journalists that thank to the contest talented children from all parts of Armenia are revealed and new opportunities are created for their future professional development.

Within the framework of Digicode the schoolchildren use Scratch (Fox) programming language and the created games are uploaded in the website of Massachusetts Institute of Technology(MIT). Scratch is a graphical programming environment developed by MIT, and Fox is the Armenian version which is also used in programming of robots. The program is a network uniting the schoolchildren interested in programming. This program not only develops algorithmic thinking but also other skills such as music or English knowledge.

Schoolchildren aged 7-17 can participate in DigicodeYouthProgramming Contest. The application can be filled in the website digitec.am until December 15.
